EXTERNAL ASSISTANCE FOR HOUSING PROJECTS


a.      KfW, Germany had provided /committed assistance totaling to DM 110 million in grants and DM 70 million in loans to HUDCO for undertaking housing schemes for EWS and Building Centres programme under KfW I, II, III, IV, V & VI.

b.      A line of credit amounting to Rs.123 crore from JBIC (Former OECF) Japan has been secured for city water supply projects of Sholapur and New Bombay.  This has been terminated on 31.3.2000 after availing full loan.

c.      Another line of credit amounting to Yen 8.670 million (approx. Rs.300 crore) had been committed by JBIC to HUDCO for infrastructure development projects in several States.  This has been received by HUDCO direct from JBIC through Bank of India Tokyo.  JBIC has disbursed the entire amount of Rs.323.46 crore by the end of 30.3.2002.

d.      KfW has provided loan of DM 25 million to HDFC also for financing EWS housing programmes apart from a grant of DM 62.4 million for undertaking low cost housing and micro-credit programmes.

e.      KfW has provided grant of DM 5 million to Indian Red Cross Society (Orissa Branch) for construction of 23 Cyclone Shelters in Orissa.  Phase-I of this programme is over.  In Phase-II, KfW intends to provide assistance of EURO 5.113 million for construction of 30 Cyclone Shelters in the coastal belt of Orissa.  These shelters are used as schools or for other social purposes during normal times.

OTHER INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE

            IBRD Technical Assistance (Grant)

            The international bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) had extended a grant of US$ one million to HUDCO through its TA programme.  A study in this regard has been  completed by M/s. Price Waterhouse for strengthening HUDCO’s infrastructure operations.  The recommendations made have been accepted by HUDCO Board.
